A rally was held in Gadwal for World Anti-Tobacco Day, led by Dr. G Raju and Dr. Sasikala, DM HO. The rally started at the old DM HO office and ended at Gandhi Chowk, with district medical health staff and Asha workers participating. They took a pledge to fight against tobacco use.
After the rally, a pledge was made emphasizing the harmful effects of tobacco products on health, including causing cancers. Dr. Sasikala mentioned that World No Tobacco Day marks the beginning of a year-long campaign starting on May 31 to discourage tobacco use and raise awareness among governments, communities, groups, and individuals.
Dr. Sasikala also highlighted that World No Tobacco Day is celebrated every year with different themes, with the current focus being on the anti-tobacco initiative. Other participants in the rally included CHO Ramakrishna, District Program Coordinators, Health Supervisors, and Asha workers, all contributing to the success of the event.
