Rajnath emphasizes the need for collective support from neighboring countries in maritime security

Vikarabad: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy have stated that the security of the nation is non-negotiable. There will be no compromise when it comes to protecting the country.

Rajnath Singh made these remarks while laying the foundation stone for a Very Low Frequency (VLF) station in Vikarabad. He emphasized that maritime security is a shared responsibility and warned against inviting “outside forces,” as this could weaken efforts to maintain unity. He stressed that keeping peace in the Bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean Region (IOR) should be a priority. He also highlighted the importance of cooperation with friendly nations, saying that if even one country is left out, India’s security could be at risk.

Rajnath Singh praised the Indian Navy, calling it “the biggest guarantee of peace” in the IOR, including the Bay of Bengal. He emphasized the need to continuously strengthen the Navy, especially as global interest in the Indian Ocean Region continues to grow. He explained that India believes in unity and is working hard to bring friendly neighboring nations together.

The Defence Minister also noted that the VLF naval station will be crucial for India’s maritime forces once it becomes operational. He explained that several Indian Navy ships and platforms are deployed across the Indo-Pacific region, with India’s interests stretching from the Malacca Strait in the east to the Persian Gulf, Gulf of Aden, and the eastern coast of Africa in the west.

Singh further remarked that the Indian Navy has become the first responder and net security provider in the Indian Ocean. He said the upcoming VLF station will enhance the military’s capabilities and be a key asset for the Armed Forces. The high-tech center, once operational, will not just be a military facility but a strategic asset of national importance.

Addressing concerns about the environmental impact of the project, Singh assured that all necessary environmental precautions are being taken. The VLF station, located in the Damagundam forest area of Vikarabad district, will be the Navy’s second such communication station in India. The first VLF station is located at INS Kattabomman in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy added that the VLF facility, which is being built at a cost of Rs 3,200 crore, will span 2,900 acres. It will help improve the Indian Navy’s operational readiness and ensure strong command and control capabilities in difficult maritime environments.

The VLF station will play a major role in strengthening India’s naval communication infrastructure. It will enable secure and reliable long-distance transmissions, which are vital for effective naval operations. The Chief Minister also noted that Hyderabad has always been an important city for defence, with many defence research organizations based in the area.

In response to some political objections raised by the BRS party, the Chief Minister said that while political differences are normal, no one should create unnecessary doubts or fear when it comes to national security. He clarified that the project was approved by the previous government and is now being implemented by the current administration.

Earlier in the day, Union Minister G Kishan Reddy, while speaking to the media in Hyderabad, called the VLF station a proud moment for Telangana, emphasizing its importance for national security.
