Raj Pakala Questioned by Police in Connection with Drug Case

Hyderabad: Businessman Raj Pakala, who is the brother-in-law of BRS working president K T Rama Rao, appeared before the Mokila police on Wednesday. He was there for questioning in connection with a case that was registered after a raid at his farmhouse in Janwada, located on the outskirts of the city. Pakala was accompanied by his lawyer during the questioning.

The case began on October 26 when the Narsingi police, along with officials from the excise department, conducted a raid at a party held at Pakala’s Janwada farmhouse. During the raid, one of Pakala’s associates, Vijay Madduri, tested positive for cocaine. The police also seized foreign liquor, Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL), beer, and casino games from the party. As a result, the Mokila police registered a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and the Telangana Gaming Act.

After the raid, Pakala initially avoided police questioning. This led the police to issue a notice at his residence in Orion Villas, Raidurgam. According to the notice, issued under Section 35(3) of the BNSS, Pakala was required to appear before the police on October 28 with address proofs and any evidence related to the case.

On the same day, Pakala approached the Telangana High Court seeking protection from arrest. The court instructed the police not to take any harsh actions against him and directed Pakala to appear before the police within two days to cooperate with the investigation.
