Raids Uncover Counterfeit Goods at Begum Bazar

Hyderabad: Three shop owners in Begum Bazar were caught on Sunday for selling fake products, including mosquito repellents, disinfectants, and adhesives. These counterfeit products were found to be dangerous. The police seized fake goods worth Rs 2 lakh during the raids.

Based on information received, the Commissioner’s Task Force, Central Zone team, and copyright agents carried out raids at wholesale shops in Begum Bazar and Erragadda. They arrested three people involved in selling counterfeit items like Good Night liquid, Lizol surface cleaner, and Fevikwik. These actions violated the Copy Right Act.

The arrested individuals are Ramesh Kumar Parmar (40), who owns RM General Store in Begum Bazar; Hitesh Pawar (22), owner of Sri Saroj Agency in Feelkhana; and Ramesh Kumar (34), who owns Sri Traders in Erragadda.

During the raid, the police seized 444 boxes of Good Night mosquito repellent liquids, 94 boxes of Good Night coils, 702 bottles of Lizol surface cleaner, and 13,440 Fevikwik sachets.

According to the police, the three men are originally from Rajasthan and moved to Hyderabad a few years ago to run general stores. However, they found that their earnings from the business were not enough. To make quick money, they decided to sell fake products.

They obtained fake goods at a low cost from certain agents. These products were packed in boxes with well-known company logos and sold to both wholesale and retail shops at a profit, violating the law to make easy money.

YVS Sudheendra, DCP of the Task Force, confirmed that the arrested traders, along with the seized goods, were handed over to Begum Bazar police for further investigation.
