Raghav Chadha appeals to Rajya Sabha speaker against introduction of central government's ordinance

The Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi is protesting against the central government’s ordinance. Raghav Chadha, an MP of the Aam Aadmi Party, has written a letter to the Speaker of the Rajya Sabha, urging that the ordinance should not be introduced in the Rajya Sabha.

Chadha has given three reasons why this bill should not be tabled. He believes that presenting the ordinance as a bill in Parliament is illegitimate and wrong. He also stated that it is unlawful for the central government to introduce an ordinance that takes away the rights of the Delhi government.

Chadha sent the letter to the Vice President and Chairman of the Rajya Sabha on Sunday. He emphasized that it is unfair for the central government to overturn a Supreme Court judgment just 8 days after it was made.

The central government is trying to present this ordinance in Parliament to make it a law. However, Chadha argues that it would be illegal to introduce it without amending the Supreme Court’s judgment. He also points out that this ordinance destroys Article 239 AA of the Constitution.

Chadha further states that this new ordinance is also under consideration by the Supreme Court. Therefore, he believes that it should not be presented before Parliament until the court has reviewed its legality.
