Rachakonda Police Crack Down on Tinted Glass Vehicles
Hyderabad: The Rachakonda traffic police have started a special drive to crack down on vehicles with tinted glasses and black films. This drive, which began on Monday, is being conducted at various locations within the Rachakonda Commissionerate limits.
The police explained that the drive aims to address the rising number of violations involving tinted glasses, pressure horns, and unauthorized sirens. These practices not only violate traffic rules but also pose safety and security risks.
Officials emphasized that the focus of the drive is on vehicles using black films or excessively tinted glasses. Traffic challans are being issued under the Motor Vehicle Act to offenders. “Tinted glasses beyond permissible limits are a violation and can lead to security concerns,” said a traffic police officer. Many vehicles on city roads are reportedly using black tinted windows, which are strictly prohibited.
The Supreme Court had issued a complete ban on black films on vehicle windows back in 2012. As per the Road Transport Authority (RTA) guidelines, black films are entirely banned. However, factory-manufactured tinted glasses with up to 30% visibility are allowed. For violations involving tinted windows, the traffic police are imposing a fine of ₹1,000 and removing the black film from the vehicles.
Tinted glasses can block the side and rear views, increasing the risk of accidents. Additionally, some car owners are reportedly using sunshades, curtains, or built-in black screens in luxury vehicles, which also fall under prohibited modifications.
The Rachakonda police are urging motorists to follow the rules and avoid such violations to ensure road safety and compliance with the law.
