The sewage canal between the two Lakaram tank bunds in Khammam has been cleaned for the sake of public health. The sewage was removed through an underground pipe line and beautification works were done to improve the city for the people’s enjoyment and health.
Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar took action to address the sewage problem that the people of Khammam have been facing for a long time. He informed Municipal Administration Minister KTR about the issue and received a positive response. Minister KTR sanctioned Rs.10 crores to solve the problem.
The funds will be used to permanently address the gap between Khammam Lakaram Tank Bund and Mini Lakaram. The work is progressing quickly. A program was undertaken to separate sewage and rainwater through an underground pipeline for about 1.8 kilometers at a cost of Rs.10 crore.
The accumulation of rainwater and sewage in the area has caused many people to fall sick over the years. Minister Puvwada will solve this problem by using an under drainage pipeline. The separated sewage will be treated at the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) at Prakash Nagar, while the rainwater will directly meet in Munneru.
In addition to addressing the sewage issue, development programs will also be carried out to bring joy to the people. Parks, open gyms, plantations, and various sports facilities that already exist in Khammam three town will also be organized here.
On Sunday, State Transport Minister Puvwada Ajay Kumar inspected the ongoing drainage construction works between Khammam and Lakaram tank bund. He ordered the officials to complete the work quickly. Minister Puvwada stated that improving and beautifying the city within three months is their responsibility.
