Hyderabad: The team behind the blockbuster movie Pushpa 2: The Rule has announced financial aid of Rs 2 crore to support the family of Sritej, a young boy injured during a stampede at Sandhya Theatre on December 4. The stampede occurred during the premiere of the movie. Sritej is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital.
Film producer Allu Arvind, father of Pushpa star Allu Arjun, along with the movie’s director Sukumar, visited Sritej at KIMS Hospital in Hyderabad. They met with the boy’s father and doctors to check on his condition.
The financial assistance includes Rs 1 crore contributed by Allu Arjun, while the filmmakers from Mythri Movies and director Sukumar each donated Rs 50 lakh. The total amount was handed over to Telangana Film Development Corporation Chairman Dil Raju, who was present at the hospital.
Speaking to the media outside the hospital, Allu Arvind stated that Sritej is showing signs of recovery, and ventilator support has been removed. Dil Raju added that members of the Telugu film industry plan to meet Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Thursday to discuss the incident.
The stampede, which claimed the life of Sritej’s mother, Revathi, has led to legal action. Police have registered a case and arrested Allu Arjun, along with the theatre owners, security personnel, and staff. Additionally, Chikkadapalli police recently questioned Allu Arjun and recorded his statement regarding the incident.
