Purchase centers delay leaves farmers with looming losses.

The State government had planned to establish 848 purchasing centers in the combined district, but none have been opened yet. This delay is causing farmers to suffer losses and face difficulties as they wait for the Yasangi (Rabi) grain purchase process to begin. Despite officials announcing that grain purchase centers would open in April for the joint Nalgonda district, no necessary steps have been taken yet, causing farmers to express their impatience.

According to estimates, the current Yasangi will produce about 30.97 lakh metric tonnes of grain in the erstwhile Nalgonda district, with 20 lakh metric tonnes being thick paddy grain and 10.97 lakh metric tonnes being thin grain. To accommodate this yield, 848 purchasing centers were planned to be set up in the combined district. However, it is predicted that only eight lakh metric tons of thick type and five lakh tons of thin type of grain will come to the market out of 13 lakh metric tons of Nalgonda district.

Officials announced that 121 IKP centers and 150 PACS centers will be established for the purchase of paddy grain, but none of the 271 purchasing centers have been opened yet. Similarly, in Suryapet district, 170 IKP and 106 PACS centers are planned to be set up for the purchase of thick type grain with an estimate of seven lakh metric tons of thick type and five lakh tons of thin type grain.

In Yadadri Bhongir district, 78 IKPs, 250 PACS, and four marketing department buying centers will be set up for the purchase of thick type grain after estimating the yield of five lakh tons of thick type and 79 thousand tons of thin type grain. Officials have announced that they will prepare two crore Gunny bags, tarpaulins, humidity detectors, and electronic sensors. However, not a single purchase center has been opened yet anywhere in the erstwhile Nalgonda district.
