Several leaders from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), including ministers and MLAs from Punjab, were not allowed to enter Delhi on Sunday. This happened as AAP’s national convenor, Arvind Kejriwal, went to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) office in Delhi for questioning in connection with irregularities in the excise policy. The Punjab leaders were going to Delhi to show their support for Kejriwal. Ministers Bram Shanker Jimpa, Dr Balbir Singh, and Harjot Singh Bains, along with MLAs Dinesh Chadha and Kuljit Randhawa were among those who were stopped at the Singhu border. They accused the Delhi Police of not letting them enter their capital.
A protest was held by AAP in Chandigarh where state ministers and MLAs along with their supporters gathered at the Bhandari bridge carrying placards and shouting slogans against the Centre. They claimed that the government was misusing central investigating agencies like CBI and ED against political opponents. Kejriwal was summoned as a witness and is not an accused in the excise policy case. His former deputy, Manish Sisodia, was arrested by the CBI on February 26.
