Proposal to Rename Telugu University as Somanatha

Warangal: Somanatha Kala Peetham, a Literary and Cultural Vedika, has requested the State government to rename the Telugu University after Saint Poet Palakuriki Somanatha. Somanatha was one of the most famous Telugu writers from the 12th or 13th century.

On Monday, members of the Somanatha Kala Peetham spoke to the media in Palakurthi, Jangaon district. They asked Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to make a favorable decision on this matter. They mentioned that the Chief Minister had recently talked about renaming the Telugu University during an Assembly session. They also noted that many people who were active in the Telangana Movement support renaming the university after Somanatha.

The Kala Peetham also suggested that the government should consider naming Palamuru University after Suravaram Prathap Reddy.

At the meeting, several key members of the Kala Peetham were present. These included honorary advisor Veeramaneni Venkateshwar Rao, president Dr. Rapolu Satyanarayana, vice-president Margam Laxminarayana, secretary Immadi Damodar, joint secretaries Jakkula Ravinder and Mamindla Ramesh Raja, treasurer Rapaka Vijay, and secretariat members Gummadrajula Sambaiah, Gudur Lenin, Rapolu Venkateshwarlu, Rapaka Ramesh, Bajjuri Venugopal, and Merugu Madhusudan.
