Implementation of a healthy school bag policy is facing challenges in private schools in Telangana. Despite various directives and recommendations over the years, heavy school bags continue to be a problem for students.
The Children School Bags (Limitation on Weight) Bill, 2006 aimed to limit the weight of school bags and ensure schools comply with these limitations. However, the issue persists, leading to health problems for students carrying heavy bags.
According to Mamidi Narayana from the Tribal Residential Educational Institutions Telangana Employees Association, students in residential schools do not face the same burden as they have both school and accommodation together. This highlights the disparity between government and private schools in addressing the issue of heavy school bags.
In urban areas like Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Warangal, Khammam, and Nalgonda, where a majority of students attend private schools, the problem of heavy school bags is more severe. It is crucial to find a solution to this issue for the well-being of students.
