The Nehru Memorial Museum and Library (NMML) has been officially renamed as the Prime Ministers’ Museum and Library (PMML) Society. This change was announced by A Surya Prakash, the PMML vice-chairman, on social media. The decision to rename the society was made during a special meeting in June, with the aim of broadening its scope and making it more inclusive.
The renaming process was overseen by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who is also the Vice-President of the Society. This move recognizes the contributions of all Prime Ministers and highlights their impact. The Executive Council of NMML had endorsed this decision during a meeting in November 2016.
The newly revamped Museum now offers a seamless journey for visitors. It starts at the renovated Nehru Museum building, which showcases the life and influence of Jawaharlal Nehru. The narrative then extends to a new building that chronicles the nation’s progress under various Prime Ministers. It highlights the challenges faced and the comprehensive development achieved. This transformation aims to democratically preserve the institutional memory of all Prime Ministers, as stated by the Culture Ministry release.
