SRM Institute of Hotel Management in Warangal has been named the Best Educational Institution for Tourism and Hospitality by the Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation. The award was presented on September 27 at a ceremony in Chennai. The Minister for Tourism, V Ramachandran, handed out the award to Dr D Antony Ashok Kumar, the Director of SRM IHM, and J Lalithashri, the Vice Principal of SRM IHM.
SRM IHM has been providing hospitality education for 30 years and has made a significant impact on the tourism industry. They have placed almost 200,000 students in tourism and hospitality jobs. They have also been involved in promoting cleanliness at tourist sites even before the Swachh Bharath mission was implemented. Their students and faculty members have volunteered to keep tourist places clean. They also work to improve living conditions for local residents, such as weavers in Kancheepuram. Additionally, they have showcased a model solar kart to support women living near tourist areas. The faculty and students also conduct research to find innovative solutions for tourism development.
