In a tribal hamlet in Kothagudem district, a pregnant woman named Kattam Koosi had to be carried on a makeshift stretcher called a “doli” to reach the hospital. The hamlet does not have a road, and the pathway is damaged, making it impossible for any vehicle to transport her. The village is 10 km away from the nearest health center, so the villagers prepared a doli and carried her by foot for five kilometers to reach an auto that took her to the hospital. She was then admitted to Satyanrayanapuram Primary Health Centre and later transferred to Bhadrachalam Government Hospital for delivery by ambulance.
