Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his team, including Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Delhi Education Minister Atishi, visited Pragathi Bhavan in Hyderabad. They had arrived at Begummpet Airport and went to ITC Kakatiya star hotel before reaching Pragathi Bhavan. Kejriwal was there to seek support from Telangana Chief Minister KCR against an ordinance passed by the Centre designating the Delhi Lt Governor as the administrator who will have the final say on the postings and transfer of all bureaucrats serving the Delhi government.
The Supreme Court had recently passed an order giving the Delhi government the power to make laws and post or transfer bureaucrats. Kejriwal hoped to gain support against the ordinance from KCR and requested that KCR oppose the Bill to be brought by the Modi government in Parliament to replace the ordinance.
Kejriwal has been meeting with leaders of various opposition parties in different states to gain their support. He has sought time with Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and party leader Rahul Gandhi to seek Congress support in Parliament. In late May, Kejriwal, along with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, had called on Nationalist Congress Party leader Sharad Pawar in Mumbai to enlist his support. The AAP leaders also had a separate meeting with Shiv Sena UBT leader Uddhav Thackeray.
Kejriwal previously met with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in Kolkata, who assured him that when the Narendra Modi government presents the bill in Parliament, Trinamool Congress will oppose it.
