Hyderabad: Even before the peak summer season, Telangana has recorded its highest-ever electricity demand. On Thursday, the power demand reached 15,752 megawatts (MW), surpassing the previous record of 15,623 MW set on March 8 last year.
To ensure a steady and uninterrupted power supply, the state government had already taken necessary steps four months ago. These steps aim to provide quality electricity to homes, businesses, and industries without any disruptions.
Officials have also prepared for an even higher power demand, expecting it to exceed 17,000 MW during the peak summer months from April to June. The state’s power distribution companies, TGSPDCL and TGNPDCL, are responsible for purchasing electricity from long-term contracts and power exchanges to meet this growing demand.
