Possible Cabinet Expansion in the Works

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy met with Governor CP Radhakrishnan at Raj Bhavan in Hyderabad on Monday. After a recent visit to Delhi, CM Revanth Reddy suggested that the change in PCC and cabinet expansion will happen at the same time. Revanth’s term as PCC president ends on July 7. Health Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha also hinted at the upcoming cabinet expansion within the next three days during informal conversations with the media.

Speculation is growing about whether the state cabinet will be expanded before July 7 following the meeting between Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Governor C P Radhakrishnan. In light of Revanth’s statements after his visit to Delhi, it seems that changes in PCC leadership and cabinet expansion will occur simultaneously. Minister Rajanarsimha also mentioned the impending cabinet expansion during talks with the media. He suggested that Danam Nagender and someone from Nizamabad might be added to the Council of Ministers, and there could be reshuffling of portfolios.

The government is reportedly preparing for the budget session scheduled for the last week of July. During their meeting, Revanth and the Governor discussed various topics including the Governor’s address to the joint session of the Assembly, pending bills, Vice Chancellor appointments, and MLCs under the Governor’s quota. The issue of releasing prisoners for good conduct on August 15 was also raised, with 231 names sent to the Governor for consideration.

Other matters discussed between the CM and Governor included promulgating an ordinance to increase the market value of lands for sale, pending asset distribution, payment of dues by the AP Government, and other bifurcation-related issues. The Governor had previously met with AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to discuss similar topics.
