Ponnam Criticizes Kishan and Bandi for Inability to Obtain Central Funds for the State

Hyderabad: Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar criticized Union Ministers G Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay. He said they have not been effective in getting benefits for the State. Prabhakar asked Kishan Reddy, the MP from Secunderabad, to show his commitment to Hyderabad by getting funds from the central government for the city’s development.

Speaking to the media at the Assembly Media Point, Prabhakar questioned what Kishan Reddy has done for Hyderabad during his time as the Union Tourism Minister. He criticized the central government for not giving funds for Hyderabad’s development and accused it of not supporting the state government’s plans. Prabhakar mentioned that the state government had told the central government what it needed before the budget was made, but got no help. He wondered why the Centre gave money for the Ganga rejuvenation project but ignored the Musi River in Hyderabad.

The Minister defended Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s choice to skip the NITI Aayog meeting. He said it was a way to protest against the unfair treatment the state received in the central budget. He talked about the big losses caused by a breach in the barrage near Tummadi Hatti and noted that the NDSA had said it was impossible to pump water at Medigadda.

Prabhakar thanked the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka for allocating Rs 10,000 crores for Hyderabad’s development in the state budget. He also appreciated the government’s financial support to GHMC, the Water Board, and the Metro Rail.
