Hyderabad: Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy assured that all eligible families in Telangana will receive housing units within the next four years. He stated that the State government, which has already started phase I of the housing scheme, is committed to providing Indiramma houses for all poor households in the state.
The Minister made these remarks while unveiling the diary and calendar for employees of the Telangana State Housing Corporation at the Ministers Quarters on Sunday. He highlighted that the Congress government is staying true to the promises it made during the Assembly election campaign. “The State government is working to meet the expectations of the people, and employees should align their efforts with the government’s initiatives,” he said.
Reddy criticized the previous BRS government, accusing it of neglecting the housing department, which is responsible for building homes for the economically weaker sections. He claimed that the KCR-led regime dissolved the department and reassigned its staff to other agencies. In contrast, the Congress government is working to restore the department, establishing systems to select beneficiaries and manage housing construction projects.
The Minister explained that the Housing Corporation has been strengthened with the reappointment of 326 employees. He also emphasized that the Congress government is focused on improving the lives of workers within its framework. The event was attended by Employees’ Association State President G Ravinder Reddy, General Secretary B Venkata Ramireddy, and others.
