Police take action against illegal sand mining, seize 1,098 tons

Hyderabad police, along with Mandal Revenue Officials, conducted a special raid against illegal sand mining and transportation on Tuesday. The operation took place across different zones in Hyderabad, including the North, West, and Central zones. As a result, authorities seized over 1,098 tons of illegally transported sand.

In the North Zone, police confiscated 889 tons of sand from areas like Tukaramgate, Bowenpally, Trimulgherry, Begumpet, and Secunderabad. In the West Zone, they seized 143 tons from Janakamma Thota and Yousufguda. Meanwhile, officers in the Central Zone took control of 66 tons of sand from locations such as Musheerabad, Gandhi Nagar, and Domalguda.

The raids were led by Inspectors E Jangaiah, Mohd Khaleelpasha, and K Saidulu, along with Task Force teams and Mandal Revenue Officials. Police stated that they will continue cracking down on illegal sand mining and transportation to prevent further violations.

During the raid, officials discovered that traders were selling sand without the necessary waybills, permits, or documents from the mining authority. Some traders falsely claimed that the sand was being transported to other districts when, in reality, they were selling it within Hyderabad at higher prices to make illegal profits.

Police have warned traders to follow legal procedures and reminded them that selling sand without proper permits is against the law. They have also encouraged the public to report any illegal sand mining activities by calling the emergency helpline number 100.
