Police prevent BRS leaders from burning Jagadish Reddy's effigy after Assembly suspension

The suspension of former minister and Suryapet MLA Jagadish Reddy from the Assembly has led to strong protests by BRS leaders across Telangana. The protests were organized in response to a call from BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR).

In Gadwal, BRS leader Basu Hanumanthu Naidu led a protest in front of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar’s statue at the district headquarters on Friday. Before starting their demonstration, the protestors paid floral tributes to Ambedkar. During the protest, the BRS leaders attempted to burn an effigy of the Congress state government, but the police intervened and stopped them.

The protestors criticized the government, accusing it of trying to suppress opposition voices in the Assembly. Speaking at the protest, Naidu strongly condemned the Congress government, questioning its commitment to democracy. He alleged that Jagadish Reddy was suspended without valid reasons to prevent BRS MLAs from exposing corruption in contracts, commissions, and financial transactions linked to Delhi.

Naidu further claimed that the Congress government only pretends to support democracy but actually silences opposition voices. He accused the ruling party of filing cases, making illegal arrests, and suspending MLAs who raise public issues in the Assembly. He questioned whether this could truly be called democratic governance.

He also alleged that Jagadish Reddy’s suspension was a pre-planned move by the ruling party to weaken the opposition during the budget session.
