Police confiscate ganja valued at Rs.93 lakhs

Police in Mancherial town seized ganja worth Rs.93 lakhs, along with a tractor and two mobile phones from the accused. The incident occurred on Thursday.

On September 23, 2023, a police officer on patrol duty in Srirampur came across a blue tractor loaded with cement bricks on Mandamarri X road, near GM Office. The tractor had no number plate and the driver was not present. To clear the traffic and keep the tractor safe, the officer and his team moved it to the police station. When no one came forward to claim the tractor, the officer decided to inspect it on September 25, 2023. Upon inspection, they discovered 93 packets of ganja hidden under the cement bricks. The ganja weighed a total of 465 kgs and was valued at Rs.93 lakhs. The police conducted a proper seizure and made records of the findings. They also seized a blue Eicher Tractor.

During the search of the tractor, a Xerox copy of an Aadhar card belonging to Chitrasen Krisani from Balimela, Malkangiri, Odisha and a slip were found. Special teams were then formed with the help of Task Force Ramagundam and Srirampur Circle Officers. These teams were sent to Balimela, Malkangiri district in Odisha to locate the suspects.

With the assistance of the local police, the special team successfully summoned two suspects, Chitrasen Krisani (the owner of the tractor) and Jagabandhu (Chitrasen’s brother). Both suspects were brought before the Investigation Officer.

The Commissioner of Police commended the special team for their efforts in apprehending those involved in transporting the ganja from Telangana to Maharashtra. The investigation is currently ongoing.
