Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky in Hiroshima during the G7 summit. They discussed the Russia-Ukraine war that began in February 2022. This was their first meeting since the start of the conflict.
Modi tweeted that India supports dialogue and diplomacy to find a way forward for Ukraine and will continue to provide humanitarian assistance to the country. During their meeting, Modi emphasized that the war is a significant issue for the entire world and not just a political or economic problem.
The two leaders have been in contact over the phone for the past year and a half, but this was their first opportunity to meet in person since the beginning of the war.
