Plan to Conserve Natural Heritage Unveiled by Telangana State Biodiversity Board

0

Telangana is celebrating its tenth anniversary, and The Hans India is looking at the work of the Telangana State Biodiversity Board in protecting the state’s plants and animals. Telangana is home to many different kinds of living things, including plants, animals, and insects that live in forests, water bodies, wastelands, and wetlands. The board is working on various projects to help preserve this natural diversity, such as creating an action plan with the Centre for Innovation in Public Systems, setting up Biodiversity Management Committees in local communities, making Ameenpur Lake a heritage site, and documenting different species.

The board has also started some conservation projects, like partnering with the NGO WASSAN for a “Mannanur Cattle” initiative and recognizing the “Tilapia” fish for its contribution to aquatic diversity. However, there are still many living things that are threatened by habitat loss, over-collection, and other issues. The board has identified several species of plants, fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals that are vulnerable or endangered. These threats to biodiversity are caused by human activities like pollution, overfishing, and taking up land that used to be home to wildlife.
