Hyderabad: Pioneer Corporation has announced that it will begin making in-car products in India starting in 2026. This move follows the opening of its research and development (R&D) center in the country in 2023. The decision aims to strengthen Pioneer’s presence in India, where the auto industry has been growing rapidly each year.
Pioneer is working to become more than just a product company. It wants to transform into a complete solutions provider under its vision of “Creating the Future of Mobility Experiences.” To help achieve this goal, the company has brought in experienced leaders from outside and has set up R&D centers in both India and Germany.
India has become one of Pioneer’s top markets outside of Japan. By working with local partners, Pioneer plans to create a full production and support system in India. This includes everything from business-to-business (B2B) sales and R&D, to manufacturing and after-sales service. Local production will help the company meet customer needs faster, improve product design for Indian users, and offer better support after the sale.
The first products to be made in India will be Display Audio systems for vehicle makers. In the future, Pioneer may expand to producing more types of in-car products, both for car manufacturers and for retail customers.
Pioneer’s President and CEO, Shiro Yahara, said, “We are excited to start making in-car products in India. Producing locally will help us better support Indian automakers. This is a big step for Pioneer as we aim to grow in the global market and become a key player in India’s fast-growing auto industry.”
Aniket Kulkarni, Managing Director of Pioneer India Electronics, added, “Local production will strengthen our commitment to India. Closer partnerships with Indian car makers will help us offer more products and services to suit the changing needs of Indian drivers.”
This move also supports the Indian government’s “Make in India” initiative, which encourages companies to manufacture goods within the country. It is part of Pioneer’s global strategy to improve mobility experiences for drivers and passengers worldwide.
