A new 125-foot-tall statue of Dr. B R Ambedkar has been unveiled in Hyderabad, and it has become a popular attraction for visitors. Many families come to the area for picnics and to enjoy the parks and open spaces nearby. The area has also become a hub for street vendors selling snacks like chat, pani-puri, soda, and ice cream. With so many people visiting the statue, the vendors are making good money. Some have even doubled their sales since the new attractions were added.
On weekends, hundreds of people come to see the statue, and street vendors are there to sell them snacks. Santosh, a vendor who sells chanachaat, said that his entire stock was sold out in just an hour. He made around Rs 800 in profits, which is more than he usually makes on weekends. Anita, another vendor, said that they have started selling popcorn and sweet corn in addition to chana chat because of the increased demand.
Visitors to the statue area say that it is a great place to relax and enjoy some snacks with family and friends. Divya Khatri, a teen who came with her family, said that they usually spend at least Rs 50 on snacks when they visit, and they enjoy the chana chat and murmure that are sold there. Neelima of Neredmet said that it is good to see families coming to the spot to relax and see the tallest statue in the city.
Overall, the new statue has become a popular attraction for visitors to Hyderabad, and street vendors are benefiting from the increased foot traffic. Visitors say that it is an amazing experience to walk along the Tank Bund Road and see the statue, water fountains, and colorful ambience.
