Telangana High Court Asks for Response in Case Against MLC Teenmar Mallanna
Justice K. Sarath of the Telangana High Court reviewed a petition filed by Kadathala Arvind Reddy, a law student from Siddipet district, on Friday. The petitioner requested the court to direct the authorities to register a case against MLC Teenmar Mallanna for making derogatory remarks about the Reddy community.
The court asked the Government Pleader (Home) to get instructions from the authorities involved. Arvind Reddy’s petition was aimed at the Director General of Police (DGP), the Commissioner of Police in Siddipet, and the Station House Officer (SHO) of 1 Town Police Station.
The controversy began when Teenmar Mallanna, whose real name is Chintapandu Naveen Kumar, attended a program organized by the BC Sangam in Warangal on February 2. During the event, he reportedly made offensive remarks about the Reddy community, saying that Reddys, OCs, and Velamas are not true Telanganites and lack common sense.
The petitioner’s lawyer argued that such comments harm the identity and dignity of the Reddy community. He also stated that these remarks could create social unrest. Despite filing a complaint with the police on February 3, no action has been taken so far. The petitioner urged the court to direct the police to register an FIR against the MLC.
The High Court has adjourned the hearing to February 21, awaiting instructions from the authorities.
