People in Cantonment areas facing contaminated water crisis

In Secunderabad Cantonment, specifically Ward II, residents are worried about contaminated drinking water. They have been facing this issue for many days, leading to an increase in waterborne diseases. Despite numerous complaints to the SCB, no permanent solution has been implemented due to the lack of a Quality Assurance and Testing (QA&T) wing.

The problem of poor quality water is not new in the area. Ward II Gun Bazar, Rasoolpura, and other residential colonies in Karkhana are affected. Residents receive irregular water supply every five days, and the water often has a blackish color and strange smell.

Ramesh, a resident of Karkhana, shared, “The drinking water problem in SCB is ongoing. The water quality is very poor, and we have to buy water cans because the water is not suitable for drinking or domestic use.” Many cases of waterborne diseases have been reported in the area due to the contaminated water.

Nayeem Pasha expressed frustration with authorities’ responses to complaints about the water issue. Despite officials claiming it is muddy water, residents can detect a strange smell coming from the water at times. This continuous problem has caused inconvenience and health concerns for the locals.
