Private Colleges in Nizamabad and Kamareddy Threaten Indefinite Shutdown

Private colleges in Nizamabad and Kamareddy districts of Telangana have decided to shut down indefinitely if the state government does not release the pending fee reimbursement arrears. These colleges have been struggling financially due to the non-payment of funds for the last three years.

The college managements recently submitted a joint representation to the Vice-Chancellor of Telangana University, Prof. Yadagiri Rao. They expressed their concerns over the government’s delay in releasing the fee reimbursement funds, which has caused significant hardship for both the colleges and their students. The managements emphasized that the delay is unfair, as it affects thousands of students who rely on free education through these funds.

The situation has worsened as colleges are unable to pay their staff salaries, further impacting the functioning of the institutions. Additionally, many colleges are struggling to pay rent for the buildings that house their campuses. The owners of these institutions have appealed to the Vice-Chancellor to raise their concerns with the government and push for a resolution.

Key representatives of the private colleges, including Private Degree Colleges Association president Hariprasad and secretary Sanjeev, were among those who signed the representation. Other signatories included Maraiah Goud, Shankar, Navra Sudhakar, Jaipal Reddy, Balaji, Giri, Srinivas, Sujan Reddy, Dushyant, Ramana, Srinivas Reddy, Shivaji, Naveen, and Harikrishna Saibaba.

The college managements have made it clear that they may have no choice but to shut down indefinitely if the fee reimbursement arrears are not paid soon, leaving thousands of students and staff in a difficult position.
