A 43-year-old Indian-origin man living in Australia named Bhaskar Ponuganti had a serious heart condition that caused him to struggle to breathe. He was treated at CARE Hospitals, Banjara Hills and had a successful surgery to replace his aortic valve.
Bhaskar was previously healthy, but he developed an infection in his aortic valve which led to kidney failure and a stroke that left him paralyzed on one side. Despite being put on a ventilator, the medical team decided that surgery was his best chance at survival.
The surgery was performed by Dr. Nagesh, a senior cardiothoracic surgeon, who replaced the aortic valve with a mechanical one. Although Bhaskar had complications after the surgery, including another stroke, he was closely monitored by the critical care team led by Dr. G Bhavani Prasad.
With the help of various specialists and intensive care, Bhaskar began to show signs of improvement after 15 days. He eventually made a full recovery over the course of two months, much to the surprise and joy of his medical team and family.
