Parties Commence Poll Micro Management as Silent Period Begins

The high-energy campaign in Telangana has come to an end. The BRS is hoping to win for the third time, while the Congress is confident about bringing a change in the government. The BJP has also made significant efforts to make an impact. There are 2,290 candidates competing for 119 Assembly seats. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and TPCC chief Revanth Reddy are contesting from multiple segments. The BJP has fielded its MLA, Etala Rajender, from Gajwel and Huzurabad.

Now that the physical campaign is over, parties are focusing on micro management. The Chief Electoral Officer is closely monitoring the situation to prevent parties from bribing or threatening voters. However, there are reports of parties using new methods to lure voters with money and alcohol. The BRS and Congress candidates in certain segments are allegedly paying Rs 2,000 to Rs 10,000 per vote.

Candidates are directly approaching villagers and promising development projects and solutions to their issues if they win. They are also offering money and gifts to community leaders for their support. Party leaders are holding talks with village and Mandal level leaders to mobilize their supporters on polling day and prevent cross voting or voter impersonation. Arrangements are being made to transport voters who live elsewhere but have voting rights in their respective villages.
