The monsoon session of Parliament is scheduled to begin on July 17 in the new Parliament building. The session will last until August 10. This session is important because there will be discussions on various economic bills, such as the National Financial Information Registry (NFIR), insolvency, and data protection.
The Delhi ordinance issue will also be brought up for discussion during this session. The bill that will be presented aims to replace the Union government’s ordinance and give more power to the Lieutenant Governor. While Aravind Kejriwal, the AAP president and Delhi Chief Minister, has been protesting against the ordinance, the Congress party has not yet taken a stance on this matter. The Congress party has previously stated that they will decide whether to support AAP on this issue when it is discussed in the house.
There are still some pending tasks related to the new parliament building. If these tasks are completed before the session begins, the monsoon session may be held in the new Parliament building, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 28.
