Oxford Grammar High School Celebrates 44th Annual Sports Day with Enthusiasm
The playgrounds of Oxford Grammar High School in Hyderabad buzzed with excitement during the school’s 44th Annual Sports Day. The event celebrated sportsmanship, discipline, and the holistic growth of students, leaving a lasting impression on everyone present.
The day began with a grand welcome for the Chief Guest, Retired Major General Rajesh Kundra, who was honored with a Guard of Honour led by the students. The house-wise March Past that followed was a stunning display of coordination and teamwork, setting the tone for the day. Major General Kundra lit the torch, symbolizing the spirit of sportsmanship, and the Sports Flag and School Flag were hoisted to officially commence the event.
Adding a festive note, the Chief Guest released balloons, signifying aspirations and fresh beginnings. During his inspiring speech, Major General Kundra shared profound lessons from his army career, urging students to live in the present, uphold good character, and display courage. He encouraged them to dream big, drawing inspiration from the bravery of Wing Commander Abhinandan.
The Guests of Honor, Senior Prof. Rajesh Kumar, Dean of the Faculty of Education at Osmania University, and Dr. I. Ramachandra Reddy, former Principal and Director of CBIT, also delivered thought-provoking speeches. Prof. Kumar emphasized the importance of inclusivity and helping others, while Dr. Reddy stressed the significance of integrity and strong moral values.
The day was packed with exciting activities and competitions. Among them was the much-anticipated 100m Finals for Grade X boys and girls, with the PT Usha Trophy and Milkha Singh Trophy up for grabs. A friendly basketball exhibition match showcased teamwork and camaraderie, with lively commentary by Michael, the Program Manager, keeping the crowd engaged.
Cultural programs added color and energy to the event. Students performed the dynamic “Namo Namo Shankara” dance, an impressive yoga demonstration, and a captivating medley. Karate demonstrations further highlighted discipline and skill, showcasing the students’ dedication to extracurricular activities.
The highlight of the day was the Prize Distribution Ceremony, where students were recognized for their exceptional efforts. Awards were given for categories such as Best Athlete (Boy & Girl), Best House, and 100% Attendance, as well as for winners in various sports events. The prizes were handed out by the esteemed guests, adding to the celebratory atmosphere.
The event concluded on a high note, leaving students, staff, and parents filled with pride and joy. The Director, Prarthana Ma’am, praised the school’s unwavering commitment to excellence, quoting Willa A. Foster: “Quality is never an accident.” She thanked the teachers and staff for their hard work in making the event a success and emphasized the school’s dedication to nurturing well-rounded individuals.
