Over half of city's youth are influenced by social media posts

Young voters in Hyderabad are influenced by political posts on social media, even though they may lack knowledge about elections and politics. Many of them only vote for the party their elders support. With the elections approaching, there is a heated political environment in Hyderabad, especially between Majlis and BJP on social media.

More than 50% of young voters in Hyderabad are influenced by social media posts, but they often struggle to make informed decisions due to a lack of political knowledge. Some prioritize education and employment prospects when casting their votes, hoping for politicians who promote communal harmony.

In a recent survey, it was found that many young people in Hyderabad prioritize peace and their future over politics. Some are even considering migrating to other countries for better opportunities due to the lack of employment and incidents of communal hatred. Many young voters simply follow their elders’ choices when voting, with some choosing to skip voting altogether.

There is a divide between Majlis and BJP in Greater Hyderabad, with concerns about underdevelopment and a fear factor associated with BJP. Despite the lack of alternative options, some voters in Old City prioritize well-known candidates from Majlis and BJP over other parties like BRS and Congress.
