Hyderabad: Osmania University recently hosted a lecture focusing on the future of higher education. The event was organized by the Office of the Dean for Development and UGC Affairs in collaboration with the Office of the Director of IQAC. The lecture, titled “The Future of Higher Education: Considerations for Capabilities, Demographics, Operations, and Investment Over the Next 20 Years,” featured Professor Edward Buckingham as the keynote speaker. Professor Buckingham is the Program Director of the Master in Business Innovation at Monash Indonesia.
The lecture attracted a distinguished audience, including Deans, Directors, Principals, and Heads of Departments from Osmania University. Professor Buckingham, known for his expertise in education innovation and leadership, shared insightful ideas about how universities can adapt to changing global trends.
The Vice-Chancellor of Osmania University, Professor Kumar Molugaram, highlighted the importance of forward-thinking strategies in academics, research, and investments. He stressed that such approaches are essential for the university to retain its status as a leader in higher education. He also reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to fostering excellence and adaptability in the face of global educational challenges.
Professor Buckingham’s presentation covered several key areas related to the future of higher education. These included the evolving role of universities in preparing students for future challenges, addressing demographic shifts and their impact on education, optimizing operations for better resource management, and making strategic investments in infrastructure and academic programs.
