Prime Minister Narendra Modi returned to Delhi today after traveling to Japan, Papua New Guinea, and Australia. During an Indian community event in Sydney, he commented on the opposition’s absence from the opening of the new Parliament building. He noted that the event in Sydney had both ruling and opposition MPs, as well as the former prime minister in attendance. PM Modi criticized the opposition for questioning India’s distribution of Covid vaccines to other nations during the height of the outbreak. He emphasized that India is a compassionate country that cares for its enemies too.
The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) also criticized the decision of other political parties to boycott the inauguration and called for a reconsideration.
