Gadwal: On Thursday, Sheikh Yasmin Basha, Managing Director of Oil Fed and Director of Horticulture, visited the Oil Palm Nursery and Oil Palm Mill in Beechupalli, Erravalli Mandal, Jogulamba Gadwal District. During her visit, she reviewed the operations of the oil palm plantations and the different schemes implemented by the Horticulture Department. She was joined by officials from Oil Fed and the Horticulture Department.

Sheikh Yasmin stressed the importance of creating a platform at the Beechupalli factory to educate farmers about oil palm cultivation. She proposed that awareness programs should also include guidance on profitable intercropping practices, which could help farmers adopt more sustainable methods. Additionally, she encouraged farmers to plant sandalwood trees around oil palm fields to gain extra benefits.

As part of her visit, she interacted with oil palm farmers to learn about their cultivation techniques and challenges. Later, she met with District Collector B. Y. Santosh at the Collector’s office to discuss various aspects of oil palm cultivation, including acreage and other relevant issues in the district.

Several officials were present during the visit, including District Horticulture Officer M. A. Akbar, Oil Fed General Manager Sudhakar Reddy, Horticulture officials M. Rajasekhar, Mahesh, and Imran, as well as Oil Fed District In-charge V. Venkatesh and other field staff.
