The government in Hyderabad has suspended an official at Hakimpet Sports School over charges of misbehavior towards girls. Minister Srinivas Goud has ordered the removal of OSD Harikrishna, stating that any form of misconduct towards girls and women will not be tolerated. An investigation will be conducted into the incident, and the culprit will be sent to jail within a day or two. The minister warned that officials, leaders, and employees involved in harassment will not be spared.
The incident of sexual harassment at Hakimpet Sports School came to light after MLC Kavitha tweeted about it. The girls at the school, who are receiving coaching for various sports competitions and staying in the hostel, have accused OSD Harikrishna of sexually harassing them. Despite restrictions on men entering the girls’ hostel at night, the OSD allegedly accommodated them in the guest house within the premises. He would take some of the girls out in the evening under the pretense of entertainment and assault them. Additionally, he would enter their rooms in the middle of the night and misbehave.
There are allegations that three officers, including a female employee, are assisting Harikrishna in his actions. It is also claimed that he has an illicit relationship with the said female employee.
In response to media reports about the harassment allegations, MLC Kavitha demanded action against the accused officer. Minister Srinivas Goud promptly suspended OSD Harikrishna following her request. However, Harikrishna denied the allegations and stated that they were false and made to tarnish the school’s reputation during the selection process. He called for a comprehensive inquiry by the government into the incident.
