Observance of World Health Day

Renowned cardiologist Dr. Ramaka Srinivas emphasized the importance of focusing on access to quality healthcare, education, and information as fundamental human rights on World Health Day. He highlighted the need to raise awareness about global health issues and promote well-being.

The theme for 2024 is ‘My Health, My Right’, which emphasizes the role of both the public and governments in improving people’s health through a human rights approach. Dr. Srinivas pointed out that human rights should be universal, regardless of factors like race, color, sex, language, religion, or nationality. He expressed concern that nearly 4.5 billion people, almost half of the world’s population, lack access to proper healthcare services.

The Srinivasa Heart Foundation will focus on addressing cardiac arrest as a local health issue and advocate for improved awareness and CPR training in the community. Dr. Srinivas called on government authorities to make Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) available in all public places and residential buildings.

During the event, Dr. Srinivas demonstrated Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and highlighted the foundation’s efforts to provide CPR training to various groups. Attendees included retired Director of Health, Dr. Sambashiva Rao.
