In Nuh district, Haryana, 15 seers and leaders of right-wing groups were allowed to pray at the Shiv temple in Nalhar. The temple has been heavily guarded due to the Sarv Jatiya Hindu Mahapanchayat’s call for a ‘Shobha Yatra’. The yatra was not permitted after communal clashes on July 31, but locals were allowed to pray in their neighborhood temples on the last Monday of Shravan. Security measures were in place and some seers were stopped at Gurugram. Media vehicles were not allowed beyond the third checkpoint.
Hindu seer Jagatguru Paramhans Acharya from Ayodhya was stopped at the Ghamorj toll plaza near Sohna. He and his followers were carrying water from the Saryu River and soil from Ayodhya for the ‘Jalabhishek’ at Nalhar temple. In protest, Acharya went on a hunger strike near the toll plaza.
Around 15 seers and leaders of Hindutva outfits were allowed to visit the Shiv temple in Nalhar. They performed ‘Jalabhishek’ there. Mahamandaleshwar Swami Dharm Dev and Swami Parmanand were among the group allowed to visit the temple. After praying at the Nalhar temple, they proceeded to the Jhir temple at Firozpur Jhirka.
A limited number of people participated in the yatra, organized by Bajrang Dal’s Gurugram district. They left for the Jhir temple in a bus under tight security.
