Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first 800 MW unit of the Telangana Super Thermal Power Project in Nizamabad on Tuesday. He mentioned that the second unit will soon start operating, and once completed, the project will have a total capacity of 4000 MW. This project is considered the most advanced power plant of NTPC in India.

The Phase I of the Telangana project is being established at a cost of Rs 10,998 crore. It is located on the premises of NTPC’s existing Ramagundam station in Peddapalli district and will provide 85% of its power to Telangana State. The project uses ultra supercritical technology, which allows it to produce low-cost power. Additionally, it is the most efficient power station of NTPC, resulting in reduced coal consumption and CO2 emissions, making it one of the most environmentally friendly power stations in India.
