Hyderabad: Aspirants hoping to be part of the Telangana cabinet may face disappointment. The party has decided to delay the decision on filling cabinet positions as it is currently focused on the upcoming Assembly elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand. The All India Congress Committee (AICC) is also working to recover from the losses it faced in the recent Haryana elections.
During a recent meeting in New Delhi, the AICC reviewed the names proposed by the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) along with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. However, the high command felt that the list needs further reexamination. They believe that the current recommendations do not align well with the party’s policy of providing fair representation to different castes and regions. Specifically, the party feels that the Reddy community already has significant representation in the cabinet.
The AICC is keen on ensuring that social justice is maintained. They are also considering giving priority to long-time party supporters, rather than those who have recently joined from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).
Currently, the Telangana cabinet has 11 ministers, including the Chief Minister, with room to add six more. Revanth Reddy holds several important portfolios such as Municipal Administration & Urban Development (MA&UD), General Administration, Law & Order (Home), and other unallocated ministries.
Some districts, including Adilabad, Nizamabad, Ranga Reddy, and Hyderabad, do not have any representation in the present cabinet. Legislators from these areas are pushing hard for a spot and have been lobbying at various levels.
Among the top contenders for a cabinet position are Vivek Venkatswamy, Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy, Malreddy Rangareddy, Sudarshan Reddy, V Srihari, Danam Nagender, Balu Naik, and Amer Ali Khan.
