Nizampet residents suffer commuting nightmares due to potholes in Hyderabad

The road connecting Nizampet and Bachupally is filled with potholes, causing problems for locals and commuters. Despite being a fast-growing suburb, the Nizampet Municipal Corporation has not addressed this issue, leading to many fatal accidents on the road.

Last year, the NMC planned to develop a 120-feet road with a cycling track, but the plan remained on paper. The pothole-ridden road has been neglected for two years, leading to accidents like the tragic death of an eight-year-old student hit by a speeding school bus. Complaints have been made to officials, but they closed them without addressing the issue.

Residents have protested and filed RTI requests, but their efforts have been ignored. Officials only temporarily fill in the deep potholes with sand, causing fear for residents during the monsoon season. The lack of action has led to frustration among locals like Srinivas Bellam, who emphasize the need to re-carpet the entire road for a lasting solution.

Despite plans to develop a 120-feet stretch, the corporation seems more focused on internal roads than fixing the main road’s potholes. Confusion over jurisdiction between Nizampet Municipality and the Road and Building Department has left commuters like social activist Sai Teja suffering from the road’s poor condition.
