Hyderabad: KT Rama Rao, the MA&UD Minister, laid the foundation stone for a new boys’ hostel and classroom buildings at Nizam College in Hyderabad. The construction will cost around Rs 18.75 crore and will be carried out by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA).
Ministers P Sabhitha Indra Reddy, Talasani Srinivas Yadav, and Md Mahmood Ali accompanied KTR during the event. KTR, who was a student at Nizam College from 1993 to 1996, expressed his pride in being an alumnus of the college. He mentioned that each visit to the college brings back memories of his student life.
KTR highlighted the need for a boys’ hostel to match the existing hostels for girls. The Education department has provided funds for these projects, and HMDA is expected to sanction over Rs 40 crore. This will create more space for students from various districts who come to Hyderabad for higher studies.
KTR also mentioned the government’s commitment to supporting education at Osmania University. He outlined several upcoming projects, including a link road between the university and Adikmet costing Rs 16 crore, the construction of 10 additional classrooms, and the boys’ hostel. Taking a dig at former Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, who recently joined BJP, KTR criticized him for not allocating any funds for the development of Nizam College during his tenure.
