NIMSME Awarded Prestigious 'Utkrisht' 3-Star Rating

Hyderabad: The National Institute for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (NIMSME) in Hyderabad has received accreditation from the National Accreditation Board of Education and Training (NABET). This award is in recognition of its outstanding services in promoting and developing MSMEs.

The assessment for this accreditation was thorough. A team from the Capacity Building Commission (CBC), NABET, and Quality Control of India visited NIMSME to inspect all its standard operating procedures and methodologies. After the on-site assessment, NIMSME was awarded a certificate of accreditation with a three-star rating, termed “Utkrisht.”

NIMSME operates under the Union Ministry of MSME. It plays a significant role in entrepreneurship and skill development by creating a supportive environment for MSMEs to thrive. The institute’s activities are divided among four schools of excellence: the School of Enterprise Development (SED), the School of Enterprise Management (SEM), the School of Entrepreneurship and Extension (SEE), and the School of Enterprise Information and Communication (SEIC).

Founded in 1962, NIMSME has made significant contributions both within and outside India. It has helped other developing countries benefit from its facilities and expertise. NIMSME is connected with various prestigious global organizations like UNIDO, UNDP, DCAC, UNESCO, ILO, CFTC, UNICEF, AARDO, and GIZ.

NIMSME has also established theme-based centers of excellence, such as the National Resource Centre for Cluster Development (NRCD), which has aided in the development of over 150 clusters. Recently, the institute created two new centers of excellence: FinRISE (Financial Research and Innovation for Sustainable Enterprises) and the Biochar Unit.

The institute has trained a total of 5,71,068 participants through 16,902 programs for officials from various Indian government ministries and state governments. Additionally, it has provided skill training to 1,85,224 educated unemployed youth through 6,139 entrepreneurship and skill development programs (ESDPs).

Since 1967, NIMSME has been implementing the ITEC scheme of the Ministry of External Affairs. Through this scheme, it has trained 11,019 international executives from 145 developing countries. The institute has also completed more than 959 research and consultancy projects.
