Nikhat Zareen, a two-time Boxing World Champion, received a warm welcome at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad on Saturday. Zareen made history by becoming the first Indian boxer, after Mary Kom, to win two gold medals at the world championships. She secured her second World Boxing Championship gold with a 5-0 victory against Vietnam’s Nguyen Rho Tam and retained the title on March 26 in New Delhi, making her only the second Indian female to achieve this feat. Upon her arrival, Minister for Sports and Culture V Srinivas Goud, Telangana Sports Authority Chairman Anjaneya Goud, and her family members congratulated her for her impressive achievement.

During the welcome ceremony, Minister Srinivas Goud expressed his pride in Zareen’s achievement and stated that her record would go down in history. He also conveyed special wishes from Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and announced that Zareen would be honored soon. The State government has already offered Zareen a DCP post, and they are ready to provide all necessary support for her to establish a boxing academy in Telangana.
