Air Marshal S Shrinivas has taken over as Commandant of the Air Force Academy, Indian Air Force, replacing Air Marshal B Chandra Sekhar. The handover ceremony took place on September 1, 2023.
Air Marshal S Shrinivas is a science graduate from the National Defence Academy and joined the Indian Air Force in June 1987. He has over 4200 hours of flying experience on various aircraft, including MiG-21, Iskra, Kiran, PC-7, HPT-32, Microlite, and others. He is also qualified as a 2nd pilot on a Chetak/Cheetah helicopter and a categorised Operations Officer on SAM-III (Pechora).
Throughout his career, Air Marshal S Shrinivas has held several command appointments, including commanding a frontline fighter base, a premier flying training base, the prestigious Flying Instructors School, the Institute of Flight Safety, and Basic Flying Training School. He has also served as Chief Instructor (Flying) at the Air Force Academy and held various staff positions.
Air Marshal S Shrinivas is an alumnus of the National Defence College, College of Defence Management, and Defence Services Staff College. He holds a Master of Philosophy in Defence and Strategic Studies, Master in Management Studies, and Master in Defence and Strategic Studies.
In recognition of his distinguished service, Air Marshal S Shrinivas has been awarded the Vishist Seva Medal by the President of India and a commendation by the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief.
