New Bridge Planned for Remote Tribal Area

Khanapur: “Real development is when remote villages are developed,” said Dhanasari Anasuya Seethakka, Minister for Panchayat Raj, Women, and Child Welfare.

On Saturday, the Minister laid the foundation stone for a new bridge in Gangapur, a remote tribal area in Kada mandal of Nirmal district. The bridge, which will cost Rs 22 crore, promises to improve connectivity for the region. Upon her arrival in Gangapur village, Seethakka was welcomed warmly by the local tribal community in their traditional style. She also visited the site where the bridge will be constructed.

Speaking at a meeting held in the village, the Minister highlighted the challenges faced by tribal communities living in forest areas. She explained that these communities are not asking for luxurious infrastructure like highways or flyovers, but simply for basic roadways. She called this a “legitimate desire” and emphasized that fulfilling this decades-long dream will bring road facilities to other remote villages as well.

Seethakka further noted that the lack of road access has caused significant hardships for tribal residents over the years. Many have suffered, and some have even died due to illnesses that couldn’t be treated in time due to poor connectivity. She stressed that the goal is to develop remote villages and improve the lives of those living in isolated areas.
