The UIDAI organization has announced that physical verification will be conducted for individuals who are applying for an Aadhaar card for the first time after turning 18 years old. This verification process will require permission from the State government and will follow a similar system used for passport verification.
To facilitate this process, state governments will appoint nodal officers and sub-divisional officers in districts and sub-divisional stations. District head post offices and other Aadhaar centers will also be selected for physical verification.
Before verification, data quality checks will be performed on the application details. Once cleared, the information will be sent for verification through the service portal. If the verification is successful, the Aadhaar card will be issued within 180 days by the Sub Divisional Magistrate.
It is important to note that these new rules only apply to first-time applicants who are above 18 years old. After receiving the Aadhaar card, individuals can update their details in the usual manner.
